NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME CELL

Nss-LogoAs per the sanction letter dated 4/9/2009 received from NSS department Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, S.B.Jain institute of technology, management and research is having NSS cell of 50 volunteers. (Current Strength – 100 Volunteers  50 Aided + 50non Aided)

The Motto of NSS “Not Me But You”, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person’s point of view and also show consideration to other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS is well doctrined in this motto, which underlines/on the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society.

The main objectives of National Service Scheme (NSS)

          • Understand the community in which they work
          • Understand themselves in relation to their community
          • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving
          • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility
          • Utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems

Activity :- Diwali Celebration with needy Family

Purpose :-

Venue :- Jaitala Outer Ring Road, Agne Layout Khamla

It was decided by the NSS coordinators that our students
should know the problem of the economically weaker and
deprived section of the society. Hence it was decided to
celebrate diwali with such families which cannot afford to
celebrate the festival of happiness and light. The NSS
volunteers collected diwali snacks and sweets made at their
home and distributed it amongst the poor families.
Volunteers also made monetary contribution and gifted new
dress material for poor families. Students also helped
these people to decorate their home and celebrated diwali
with identified families by igniting lamps and bursting
fire crackers with them. This activity has given a immense
sense of pleasure to the students and made them involved in
solving the problems of the community.

Activity :- Pass Port Awareness – student connect

Awareness seminar about passport was conducted for the students of SBJITMR under the flagship of NSS unit. The students were made aware about the procedure and documentation required for getting a passport. Mr. C.L. Gautam, Regional Passport Officer, PSK Nagpur has given all the details required for getting the passport at ease. Pradipta Dey and Adarsh Bajpai Public Relation Manager, Tata Consultancy Services, Nagpur were prominently present to answers the queries of the students.

Activity :- BHARARI 2K17–Patangotsav

Purpose :-

Bahrari the Patangotsav is celebrated under the flagship of NSS unit at college campus. Inauguration of the event was done at the hands of Mrs. Preeti Badjate, Trustee SSBCT. Prof. Sanjeev Agrawal, CEO of the trust was prominently present on the occasion. Theme base section wise decoration was done by the students to showcase their team effort. New and innovative kites were made by students. Sweet (Til-Gud) was distributed amongst the students. Activities like flash-mob and mannequin challenge and drone selfi was organized by the students. The event was concluded by flying 100 hot air balloons in the air. All the HODs were present during the function.

A blood donation camp was organized on 31st Jan 2017 at SBJITMR campus under the NSS Unit of the college and Rainbow Blood Bank, over 100 students donated blood and played their part in this noble cause. The chief guest for this occasion was our honorable CEO Sanjeev Agrawal. The chief guest presented the NSS volunteers with appreciation certificate. Mr. Sanjay Baragawane a representative from rainbow blood bank distributed T- shirts and donors card to the participants for future reference. Some of the enthusiastic students got rejected due to under age and underweight criterion

Activity :-EYE CHECKUP CAMP

A free eye check-up camp was organized by NSS unit of SBJITMR in collaboration with Titan EYE at college campus on 9th of Feb. 2017. Over 160 students were examined during the camp. It has been observed that students especially students from rural back ground don’t visit eye clinic at their own. Generally The objective of this event was to spread awareness on eye disorder, their early detection and to detect refractive errors and eye ailments among college students. Staff members also got their eyes examined during the camp.

Venue :- SAHAS the Campus at wadgoan, near butubori

A 4 days three night residential camp is organized by NSS unit for first year students, the objective of the camp was to make students group living and sharing responsibilities and understand themselves in relation to their community. The students stayed there in tents and performed their individual as well as group tasks assigned to them. Students have performed activities like clue finding, wall climbing, river rafting, etc. metal training for positive thinking, motivation, time management was also given to students. The instructors of sahas camp have taken great efforts for building positive attitude of the students. Students gave great feedback about the camp and felt themselves transformed in a positive way.

A Computer Literacy Program was organized on 19 Feb 2017 at SBJITMR campus under the NSS Unit at department of CSE. The students of slum area were gathered at computer lab of CSE and Volunteers of NSS and student forum enthusiastically gave hands on practice to these children. College management helped us for safe transportation of the children.

A Awareness Program on Women Rights was organized on 24th Jan 2017 at SBJITMR campus under the NSS Unit of the college and women redressal committee, over 150 girls students and all female staff participated in the program. The chief guest for this occasion was Mrs. Padma M. Chandekar, advocate in high Court Nagpur. The chief guest appealed the audience to be aware about their rights in this male dominated society. She asked the audience to use it but not to misuse it.
